Beckley Exhibition Coal Mine Campground is a unique place to stay, especially if you're planning to visit the historic coal mine. Reservations are made through the event website, and the campground is within walking distance of the mine, making it incredibly convenient. The campsites are on the tighter side, and the drive in includes a steep climb with a fairly sharp turn. While it may look intimidating, both our rig and a couple of 45-foot Brinkley fifth wheels made it without any issues. Just take it slow and you'll be fine. The real highlight is the Beckley Exhibition Coal Mine itself. The underground mine tour, mine train ride, educational center, and museum provide a fun, hands-on look at coal mining history. It's an engaging experience for both kids and adults, making it a great stop for families looking to combine learning with adventure. If you visit in the fall, the scenery is absolutely beautiful, adding even more charm to the experience. Overall, this is a memorable destination that offers history, education, and family fun all in one place.
